MEMS Design & Development

Semefab supports a cost-effective business model commercialising the research & development (R&D) outcomes from industry and academia. This offers an open-access development model supporting low volume foundry across the full technology cycle (feasibility, proof of concept and prototypes).

Semefab has a non-exclusive design collaboration with the Institute of System Level Integration (iSLI). Working together, iSLI can design the MEMS structure from which Semefab can then develop and induct a process flow. This approach is particulary useful where the customer has a concept and has not yet designed the structure.

Under the ‘MNT Initiative’, Semefab is investing £13.6m to support commercialisation of MNT across global industry and academia.

The Semefab value proposition enables technology commercialisation and the seamless transition to volume foundry utilising the same equipment and personnel. This commercialisation model eliminates the headache of moving from the lab environment to volume manufacture.

Semefab shall support technology transfers should a customer wish to use a non-Semefab foundry operation for extremely high volumes.

Semefab's 'MNT Initiative' is match funded with support from
Scottish Enterprise (SE) and the Technology Strategy Board (TSB).

MNT Development is an ISO9001 & ISO14001 accredited environment.
